As we prepare to head into a busy 2026, we are looking to speak to BOP Technicians for offshore works.
Position
The Balance of Plant (BOP) Competent Electrician (LV) shall provide competent low-voltage (LV) electrical support to Balance of Plant activities on offshore wind projects. The role includes LV electrical inspection, testing, isolation, and Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) activities in support of construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance works. This role is an authorised LV electrical function only. It does not include high-voltage (HV) activities, switching, access, or authority under any circumstances unless explicitly stated elsewhere in the contract.

Certifications – Required
• Valid offshore medical certification and Chester Step Test.
• GWO Offshore Survival and Safety Training.
• GWO Advanced Rescue Training (where applicable to assigned tasks).
• Recognised electrical qualification appropriate to LV scope (e.g. NVQ Level 3,
apprenticeship, or equivalent).
• LV Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
• Electrical safety training aligned to LV systems only.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The BOP Competent Electrician (LV) shall be capable of performing the following within the LV BOP electrical scope only:
• Carry out LV electrical installation support, inspection, testing, fault-finding, and maintenance activities on BOP systems.
• Undertake LV Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) activities, including identification, application, verification, and removal of isolations in accordance with project LV electrical rules.
• Support isolation and securing of incomplete or non-energised LV circuits to prevent inadvertent energisation prior to introduction of temporary or permanent power.
• Support LV temporary power systems and pre-commissioning activities where instructed.
• Interface with OEMs, commissioning teams, and other disciplines on LV matters only, within defined scope boundaries.
• Complete LV electrical inspection, testing, and certification records as required by project procedures.
Competence Requirements
The Contractor shall ensure that any person supplied as a BOP Competent Electrician (LV):
- Has demonstrable experience working on offshore wind projects in an LV electrical role.
- Is competent in LV BOP electrical systems, including temporary power and auxiliary LV systems.
- Has proven experience undertaking LV isolations and LOTO in regulated offshore or industrial environments.
- Has a strong working knowledge of offshore LV electrical safety rules, permits, and safe systems of work.
