Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Technicians to support an offshore wind farm project, focusing on bolt tensioning and snagging activities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring mechanical integrity, safety, and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bolt tensioning and tightening operations on offshore wind turbine components using hydraulic tensioning equipment.
- Execute snagging (punch list) activities, identifying and rectifying mechanical defects to ensure turbines meet commissioning standards.
- Operate and maintain ITH bolt tensioning systems in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and project procedures.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, torque/tension specifications, and method statements.
- Carry out inspection and verification checks on bolted connections, reporting any non-conformances.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with HSE standards, offshore regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with other trades as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including quality documentation and daily reporting.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety briefings.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician in offshore wind or heavy industry.
- Strong hands-on experience with bolt tensioning operations.
- Demonstrated experience using ITH tooling systems (or similar hydraulic tensioning equipment).
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Valid offshore certifications, typically including:
- GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Basic Safety Training
- Offshore Medical (e.g., OGUK or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly and bolting standards.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments with a high safety focus.
Desirable Requirements
- Valid B1/B2 Visa (USA) – highly advantageous for projects involving U.S. waters.
- Previous experience working on GE Haliade WTG's.
- Familiarity with GE OEM procedures.
- Additional certifications in hydraulic tooling or bolting inspection.
