Main Responsibilities
The Commissioning Supervisor can be an on or offshore position. He/she will work together with one or more commissioning resources; this team is commonly known as “the commissioning team” they are tasked to complete all of the commissioning. The commissioning tasks will commence after a hand over of the WTG location from our Installation team. The Commissioning supervisor will work conjointly with other members of the construction team, in particular the Installation team, QA/QC team as well as with sub-contractors and client construction teams, overseeing that all commissioning tasks are carried out successfully in a safe and timely manner.
He/she shall take necessary action in order to comply with Vestas safety and Quality standards.
Main Tasks
The task involves pre-commissioning of a wind turbine nacelle with hub using the NPU (Nacelle Power Unit). Key activities include:
- Preparation & Safety: Verify pre-installation activities, set up safety zones, ensure power supply availability, and record NPU details.
- Electrical & Mechanical Connections: Connect and route NPU cables to the nacelle, install yaw stop device, and configure mode selectors.
- System Checks: Perform visual and functional inspections of nacelle and hub cabinets, cooling, lubrication, and hydraulic systems.
- Energisation & Configuration: Power up the NPU, energise nacelle systems, commission network switches, upload software configurations, and set turbine-specific parameters.
- Functional Testing: Conduct tests on emergency stop systems, smoke detectors, arc detection systems, hydraulic accumulators, pitch systems, and backup power systems.
- Motor Mode Operation: Run generator in motor mode at specified RPMs, monitor alarms, and verify lubrication and cooling performance.
- Finalisation: De-energise NPU, disconnect cables, perform SCADA testing, and prepare nacelle for offshore installation.
Required Competencies:
- Experience with wind turbine electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and commissioning procedures.
- Ability to work with high-voltage equipment, network configuration, and safety-critical systems.
